A Mainer in the South · Deep Woods Foraging
Into the
Good Woods
A Mainer's journal of mushroom runs, forest finds,
and what the understory teaches if you slow down.
The Finds
One Mainer.
A Lot of Woods.
I've been walking these Maine woods since before I had a name for what I was doing. Chanterelles in July. Hen of the woods come October. Black trumpets hiding under oak leaves where you'd never think to look.
The forest always has something to offer if you know how to read it. These tours aren't guided walks. They're the real thing — boots-deep in the understory, learning to see what most people walk right past. You'll leave with a full basket, a new way of moving through the woods, and probably some mud on your knees.
